Lawmaker from "Saenuri Party" Slammed for Distorting Essence of Institution of Special Law
Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- The south Korean newspaper Kyunghyang Daily News on Monday carried an editorial denouncing Sim Jae Chol, a lawmaker from the "Saenuri Party," for distorting the essence of the institution of a special law on the ferry Sewol disaster.

The editorial recalled that Sim Jae Chol opposed the institution of a special law though he is chairman of the ad hoc committee for state investigation for probing the truth behind the ferry sinking accident at the "National Assembly".

The bereaved families stressed several times that the institution of the special law is aimed to prevent the recurrence of such disaster, but Sim Jae Chol distorted the fact, claiming that they persisted in instituting the special law in order to increase compensation, the editorial said, and went on:

His biased viewpoint on the disaster and evil attitude towards the bereaved families make it hard to expect that he would normally lead the state investigation for probing the truth behind the disaster.

The editorial urged Sim to make an apology for his remarks and behavior before the bereaved families and people and step down.
