War Martyrs Cemetery Draws Endless Stream of Visitors

Pyongyang, July 24 (KCNA) -- One year has passed since a solemn ceremony was held for the completion of the construction of the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery. The cemetery is a monument in the era erected thanks to the warm revolutionary comradeship and the noble sense of moral obligation of supreme leader Kim Jong Un for putting forward the defenders of the country in the 1950s who performed heroic exploits in the struggle against the U.S. imperialist aggressors and letting them enjoy an eternal life. In July this year marking the 61st anniversary of the victory of the Korean people in the Fatherland Liberation War nearly 20 000 people from all walks of life visited it to pay high tribute to fallen fighters of the People's Army. In the past one year since the completion of the cemetery it has drawn over 5 000 organizations and over 347 000 service personnel, people from all walks of life, school youth and children, overseas compatriots and foreigners. They posed for a long while before the monument to the teachings given by President Kim Il Sung, monument to the poem dedicated to the heroic soldiers and groups of sculptures. They laid wreaths and bouquets before the wreath-laying stand "Soul of Heroes" decorated with the flag of the Republic on which a sub-machine gun, which was tightly held by a brave fighter of the People's Army till he fell in action, and his cap shining with a five point star are placed and paid silent tribute to the martyrs. Going round the cemetery of martyrs enjoying immortality under the deep loving care of Kim Jong Un, they keenly realized the source of the invincible might of Songun Korea. |
