It was attended by members of the marchers group who covered more than 40 km from Tanwon District, Ansan City, Kyonggi Province on July 23 on the occasion of 100 days since the disaster and Seoul citizens, more than 30,000 in all.

At the memorial service speakers said they were struggling to let the people have the mandate to strictly investigate and probe the truth about the accident and punish those chiefly responsible for it.

They stressed that a special law should be instituted immediately to properly probe the truth into the disaster.

Then followed a recital of a memorial poem and performance.

The participants staged a demo toward Kwanghwamun plaza.

The police blocked the demonstrators, creating a terror-ridden atmosphere.
