History: U.S. Suffers Shameful Defeat in Korean War
|
|
Pyongyang, July 26 (KCNA) -- On June 25, 1950, the U.S. imperialists ignited a war against the young Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The U.S. hurled to the war at least two million troops, including one third of its ground force, one fifth of the air force and most of the Pacific fleet and troops of its fifteen allies as well as south Korea and Japan, along with huge latest weaponry. And taking part in it were such notorious brass hats as MacArthur and Clark. In the war, the U.S. aggression forces indiscriminately destroyed everything and committed barbarous atrocities, even using germ and chemical weapons. Massively reinforcing their troops, the U.S. imperialists had attempted to swallow up the whole Korea by launching "General Christmas Offensive" and "summer and autumn offensives" and so forth during the war. However, the heroic Korean People's Army of the DPRK dealt a telling blow at the aggressors. During the war it killed or captured more than 1 567 000 enemy troops including 405 000 U.S. troops and destroyed or captured at least 12 200 planes, 560 warships and other vessels, 3 200 tanks and armored cars, 13 300 vehicles and 7 690 artillery pieces. After all, the U.S. imperialist aggressors suffered a shameful defeat in the war and could not but keel down on their knees to the army and people of the DPRK on July 27, 1953. The DPRK's victory in the war was entirely thanks to President Kim Il Sung's Juche-based military idea and war tactics, rare wisdom and commanding art. |
