Attending the meeting were KPA Vice Marshal Hwang Pyong So, director of the KPA General Political Bureau, KPA General Ri Yong Gil, chief of the KPA General Staff, KPA General Hyon Yong Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, and other commanding officers of the KPA, service personnel of the Ground, Naval and Air and Anti-Air Forces and Strategic Force, cadets of military schools at all levels.

The reviewing stands and the plaza park were taken by officials of the party, armed forces and power organs in Pyongyang, working people's organizations, ministries and national institutions and working people from all walks of life.

A 21-gun salute boomed amid the solemn playing of "Song of General Kim Il Sung" and "Song of General Kim Jong Il".

All the participants paid tribute to the images of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

Hwang Pyong So in a speech pledged to glorify the undying feats performed by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il in winning victories in the war against the imperialists and to achieve without fail the grand cause of national reunification under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

July 27 is the day of the second liberation and an auspicious holiday when the army and people of the DPRK honorably defended the freedom and independence of the country and demonstrated the stamina of heroic Korea and the dignity of the Korean nation under the leadership of Kim Il Sung, he said.

More than six decades have passed since the ceasefire and century and generations are replaced by others but the history and tradition of victory of Songun Korea are given steady continuity as it is led by Kim Jong Un, he added.

The speaker said that the army and people of the DPRK will always win victory and glorify for all ages the history and tradition of victory down through generations as it is led by Kim Jong Un.

All the service personnel of the KPA will become the first lifeguards and death-defying corps of Kim Jong Un who will defend at the cost of their lives the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun and the Central Committee of the WPK, the banners of all victories and glory, just as heroic fighters of the 1950s did, he said.

He stressed the need to direct all efforts into rounding off the combat preparedness under the invariable banner of "Annihilate the U.S. imperialist aggressors, the sworn enemy of the Korean people!" and thus make the KPA an invincible and revolutionary elite and guerrillas of Kim Jong Un.

He called upon all service personnel to bring about a shining victory in the grand war for national reunification under the leadership of Kim Jong Un just as heroic fighters brought about the war victory day, July 27.

There were speeches to vow pledges. The floor was taken by Lieutenant General Kim Sang Ryong, commander of the KPA Second Corps, Senior Vice Admiral Kim Myong Sik, commander of the KPA Navy, General of the Air Force Ri Pyong Chol, commander of the KPA Air and Anti-Air Force, and Colonel General of the Strategic Force Kim Rak Gyom, commander of the KPA Strategic Force.

It was followed by the military parade of guards divisions, guards regiments and the Ground, Naval, Air and Anti-Air Force and Strategic Force of the KPA at the plaza to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the war victory.
