S. Korean Peasants Protest against Authorities' Decision to Open Rice Market

| Pyongyang, July 30 (KCNA) -- Peasants in North and South Chungchong provinces of south Korea belonging to the Federation of Peasants Associations held a rally in Sejong City on July 25 in protest against the authorities' moves to open the rice market, according to KBS of south Korea. Speakers accused the "government" of unilaterally making the decision to open the rice market without going through a full debate. They demanded the authorities immediately roll back the policy on opening the rice market. The participants in the rally tried to enter the "government" building to thrust a written protest to the Ministry of Agriculture, Stock-breeding and Food. The police blocked them and walked off seven protesters. |
