Long-Distance Belt Conveyor Altering Map of Kumsanpho
|
|
Pyongyang, August 5 (KCNA) -- It has been at least 40 years since a long-distance belt conveyor for discharging waste ore was installed between the Unryul Mine and the West Sea of Korea. In this period, several thousand meters-long embankment took its appearance on the West Sea, linking Sohaeri Peninsula to Nunggum and Chongryang islets. The embankment by the conveyor made it possible to build a ring road between Wolsa-ri, Kwail County and Sohaeri Peninsula via Nunggum islet with several thousand hectares of land dammed. Meanwhile, a forestation project has been steadily pushed forward along the embankment, thus turning it into the home of different animals and birds like wild rabbits and pheasants. Now the conveyor is building an embankment towards Sok islet from Nunggum islet. |
