Pyongyang, August 8 (KCNA) -- The DPRK is steadily pushing forward with a drive to propagate the freshwater resources. This year alone, the fish farming and breeding stations in Pyongyang have released over 4.7 million fries in the Taedong and Pothong rivers. In this regard, Kim Kwon Hui, an official of the Pyongyang City Fish Farming Management Bureau, told KCNA: The employees of the Taedonggang fish farming and breeding station secured highly productive seed fishes and increased the production of spawn. They purified fishponds to ensure breeding conditions for seed fishes with effective use of natural feed. Breeding stations in Samsok District and Kangnam County have also increased the production of spawn of Cyprinus carpio and Carassius auratus. Meanwhile, the Bureau is paying deep attention to the breeding of herbivorous fishes like sliver carp and Aristichythys nobilis, while taking measures to prevent flood damage. |
