S. Korean Political Camp Accused of Turning down Demands of Bereaved Families

Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- South Korean organizations including the Measure Committee of the Families of Victims, Missing Persons and Survivors of the Ferry Sewol Sinking Accident held a press conference outside the building of the puppet National Assembly on August 7 at which they voiced opposition to the special bill on the tragedy agreed upon by the ruling and opposition parties. At the press conference speakers accused the floor leaders of the ruling and opposition parties of agreeing with the proposal on investing a special prosecutor with the rights to investigate and indict those responsible for the ferry sinking disaster that day. They expressed indignation at the agreement, noting that it is little short of inflicting double death on children as it was tantamount to turning down the demands of the bereaved families and the people for investing the fact-finding committee with the rights to investigate and indict those responsible for the tragedy. Such agreement can never arrest the actions of the people as it was deliberately made without hearing the views of the bereaved families, they noted. |
