S. Korean Organizations Insist on Innocence of Suspects Involved in Attempted Rebellion Case

Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The Measure Committee to Denounce the Intelligence Service's Fabrication of Plotted Rebellion and Suppression under the Pretext of Security, the Measure Committee of the Families of Victims, Missing Persons and Survivors of the Ferry Sewol Sinking Accident and the Unified the Progressive Party of south Korea held a press conference outside the Seoul High Court on August 11 and insisted on innocence of suspects involved in the case of attempted rebellion, according to the south Korean internet paper Jaju Minbo. Speeches were made at the press conference. Ri Chang Bok, permanent representative of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, said that at the trial on the same day the court imposed heavy penalties on those suspects involved in the case although it admitted that the underground revolutionary organization does not exist. Lawyer Kim Chil Jun, head of the joint defence counsel of the attempted rebellion case, said that the case of the attempted rebellion is not guilty by law. Jong Jin U, reverend of the Human Rights Center of the Council of Christian Churches, noted that the trial showed the present situation of democracy and human rights of south Korean society. Ri Jong Hui, representative of the Unified Progressive Party, said that the regime's operation to obliterate the progressive political parties failed. At the end of the press conference, families of those detained, members of civic and public organizations and those concerned of the Unified Progressive Party held a meeting. |
