He called on the service personnel of the KPA to hold aloft the slogan "Let us defend with our very lives the Party Central Committee headed by the respected Comrade Kim Il Sung!" on August 25, Juche 49 (1960) and bring earlier the final victory of the Korean revolution.

He visited commanding officers of the KPA on Feb. 18, 1974, the day before the declaration of the supreme programme of the Workers' Party of Korea, and called on them to take the lead in the drive to model the whole society on Kimilsungism.

He saw to it that the Movement for Winning the Title of O Jung Hup-led 7th Regiment was conducted in the units of the KPA under the uplifted banner of "Let's make the whole army modern-day 7th regiment devotedly defending the headquarters of revolution!"

He provided tireless field guidance to forefront posts, observation posts, civic police posts and military academies at various levels, flying corps, tank units, naval units and all other units and sub-units of all services and arms.

He got aboard warships, aircraft and tanks those days to guide service personnel's combat trainings and learn about the combat performance of weaponry and equipment. He gave instructions on safeguarding the land, seas and sky of the country as firm as an iron wall.

He formulated Songun politics as the basic political mode under socialism and made long journeys for Songun leadership over units of the KPA in order to weather stern trials in the 1990s and firmly protect the country and socialism. He had given field guidance to more than 2 490 units of armed forces till the last moments of his life since he inspected the Tabaksol Post on January 1, 1995.

He provided ceaseless field guidance to KPA units to train them to be main forces for building a thriving socialist nation.

Highly appreciating the revolutionary soldier spirit displayed by the soldier-builders in the construction site of the Anbyon Youth Power Station, he saw to it that the whole country learned from their spirit.

While inspecting KPA units, he spared time to watch performances given by art squads of KPA units and those of companies, making sure that the new culture in the era of Songun created by the revolutionary army prevailed throughout the country.
