British Organizations Condemn S. Korean Authorities for Suppressing Progressive Forces

Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The Korean Friendship Association UK and other British progressive organizations released a joint statement on Aug. 16 denouncing the south Korean puppet authorities for suppressing the Unified Progressive Party. The statement said: At the recent second trial on the UPP's involvement in the case of the attempted rebellion, the south Korean authorities sentenced those suspected to prison terms on charges of the violation of the "Security Law". This is a base measure aimed to clamp down the progressive forces aspiring after reunification, independence and democracy. The above-said attempted rebellion is a sheer fabrication. South Korea turned into a huge fascist jail where progressives are punished by evil law. South Korea where the rich gets richer and the poor poorer is ruled by the corrupt group kowtowing to the U.S. South Korea offers a fabulous amount of money every year to the U.S. as the upkeep for the U.S. forces present in it. It is quite natural for the people who were disillusioned with the reality of south Korea to struggle for independence and reunification with progressive idea. South Korea is the worst tundra of human rights. The south Korean puppet authorities are perpetrating a hypocritical act of accusing the DPRK of its human rights performances while throwing progressives behind bars. We urge the south Korean authorities to retract all judgments inflicted upon members of the UPP and immediately abolish the "Security Law", a fascist law. |
