Noting that Aug. 25 is the significant day marking the 54th anniversary of the great leader of the Korean people Kim Jong Il's start of the Songun revolutionary leadership, the statement went on:

He firmly defended the socialist system in the DPRK with the Songun revolutionary leadership based on the idea of attaching importance to the army and the military affairs.

At the end of the last century the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces conducted a general offensive in all fields including politics, military affairs, economy, culture and diplomacy to deter the DPRK steadily advancing along the road of socialism under the uplifted banner of independence against imperialism.

To cope with this he held higher the banner of Songun and formulated the Songun politics as a main political mode under socialism.

Thanks to his Songun politics the defence capability of the DPRK has been remarkably bolstered up and the DPRK turned into a military power which no formidable enemy dares provoke.

Sovereignty and socialism of the DPRK have been protected and peace and security on the Korean peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia have been guaranteed.

It is a trend of the times to learn from the Songun politics at present.

The army and people of the DPRK are now bringing about fresh miracles and innovations every day in the building of a thriving nation, united close around supreme leader Kim Jong Un.

Songun Korea will surely win the final victory.
