Tudan Duck Farm in DPRK
|
|
Pyongyang, August 27 (KCNA) -- In Rangnang District of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there is an islet called Tudan, which turned into a duck farm on August 27, 1954. The Tudan Duck Farm, with an area of 134 000 square meters, has a base for production of animal protein feed, a duck smokehouse, production processes for organic compound fertilizer and methane gas and many other buildings. The history of its development into a leading poultry farm of the country is associated with the great Generalissimos Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il's warm love for the people and their devoted efforts. Kim Il Sung had always paid deep attention to the development of the nation's poultry farming after Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule. In the days of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War he took a measure to carry home breed duck eggs by air. After the war, he spared nothing for the construction of the duck farm and for its normal operation, personally providing it with breed duck eggs. Kim Jong Il in his lifetime frequently visited the farm to indicate in detail the ways for its management and operation and took a state measure to remodel the farm. In Juche 100 (2011), the last year of his great life, he gave important instructions for the updating of the farm on more than 10 occasions. |
