Action for Setting Free Prisoners of Conscience Declared in S. Korea

Pyongyang, August 28 (KCNA) -- The Association for Supporting Prisoners of Conscience of the Family Movement for Realizing Democracy, the Association for Supporting Workers Detained and other civic and public organizations and religious organizations in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on August 25 at which they declared an action demanding the release of prisoners of conscience.

Prisoners of conscience are those who were in actions for democratization of society and peaceful reunification, speakers said, adding they should be allowed to take part in the movement for peaceful reunification.

The prisoners of conscience are a product of the dictatorial rule, they noted, holding that those who should be imprisoned are forces who threw the prisoners of conscience into prison.
