New Strain of Apple Cultivated in DPRK
Pyongyang, August 30 (KCNA) -- The Pomology Institute under the Academy of Agriculture Science in the DPRK has grown new strain of early-ripening apple.

The new strain is superior in taste and size than the existing ones.

This apple tree comes into bloom from one year after its planting and bears fruit from two years after. It blooms early in May and its fruits get ripe in mid-August.

The tree, resistant to red aphid and other aphides, is small and its joints are short. Its fruit weighs 240 grams in average, 320g to the maximum.

The new strain can yield fruits three times those of the existing ones, 2-4 years after it is planted.
