The Uruguayan paper La Juventud on August 24 devoted one full page to an article titled "Day of Songun in DPRK" illustrated with a photo of leader Kim Jong Il.

Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army (KPA) on August 25, 1960, an event of weighty significance, the article noted, giving a detailed account of the exploits he performed in building the invincible revolutionary armed forces by inspecting a lot of KPA units till the last moments of his life.

The Kuwaiti paper Al-Rai on August 22 in an article titled "On the occasion of August 25, the Day of Songun in DPRK. HE Kim Jong Il ushered in new era for building prosperous country by dint of Songun" noted:

HE Kim Jong Il who defended socialism under the unfurled banner of Songun let the KPA stand in the van of the drive for building a thriving nation.

The eye-opening reality of the DPRK invincible with the single-minded unity, firm with self-defence and prospering with industrial revolution in the new century would be unthinkable without his Songun leadership exploits.

HE Kim Jong Un who has successfully carried forward Kim Jong Il's revolutionary cause of Songun is further strengthening the politico-ideological might of the DPRK.

The DPRK's Day of Songun will shine further under Kim Jong Un's wise leadership.

On the same day the Guinean Domestic, International and 7 National Languages Broadcasting Services reported about the Songun leadership feats performed by Kim Jong Il.
