The Party of Communists of Russia noted in an article titled "Day of Songun celebrated in DPRK":

It was an event of great significance that leader Kim Jong Il provided his first field guidance for his Songun revolutionary leadership to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su Guards 105th Tank Division of the Korean People's Army on August 25, 1960.

Since then, he inspected a lot of KPA units to develop it into an invincible army till the last moments of his life.

Thanks to his commandership the KPA grew to be an elite revolutionary army. It has always emerged victorious in the uninterrupted confrontation with the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces.

He not only defended the cause of socialism but ushered in a new era of building a thriving nation under the uplifted banner of Songun.

He led the KPA to take the lead in the drive for building a thriving nation.

The DPRK is invincible thanks to its single-minded unity, remains strong thanks to self-reliance in defence and is prospering through the industrial revolution in the new century. This eye-opening reality would be unthinkable without his Songun leadership feats.

His exploits will remain shining forever.

The Korean Friendship Association UK praised him developing the KPA into invincible combat ranks and the DPRK into a nuclear weapons state which no one dares provoke and a satellite manufacturer and launcher.
