The "Saenuri Party" branded the actions of people from all walks of life demanding the probe into the truth behind the disaster and the institution of a special law as anti-"government" actions. Not content with this, the party pressurized the bereaved families to give up the right to investigate and indict those responsible for the tragedy.

From the beginning it claimed the captain, ship-owner and maritime police, etc. only were accountable for the accident, thereby preventing the ad hoc committee for state investigation into the ferry Sewol tragedy from holding even a hearing.

The prosecution's doubtful attitude at the trial of the accident proves its attempt to hold only the ship-owner and crew members responsible for the accident.

The conservative forces also launched a general offensive to split the bereaved families from other people.

However, the actions for probing the truth behind the accident are invariably going on. Though the ferry Sewol sank, the truth cannot be written off.
