The editorial recalled that peasants driven into a crisis caused by the opening of the rice market declared a September action.

They said they would hold a peasants rally, sit-in strike outside Chongwadae, etc. in all parts of south Korea on Sept. 18, the editorial said.

Peasants are demanding a total halt to unilaterally opening the rice market, it noted.

It condemned the "government's" decision on opening the rice market as one made without an agreement with anyone and the most foolish choice.

The "government's" move will deal a deadly blow at agriculture on this land and remain an indelible crime, it warned.

It called on the people to express positive solidarity with the peasants in their action to protect the rice market.
