U.S. Moves for MD Rejected in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- The Committee for Reconciliation and Reunification of the south Korean Council of Christian Churches made public a statement on Sept. 4 in protest against the U.S. moves for establishing a missile defense system, according to Thongil News, an internet paper of south Korea.

The U.S. is mulling deploying THAAD in south Korea, the statement said.

The deployment of THAAD in south Korea would escalate military tensions on the Korean peninsula and in the rest of Northeast Asia and ratchet up antagonism and conflict, it noted, demanding the "government" lift "the May 24 step" and stop military exercises as they adversely affect the peace on the peninsula.
