DPRK Witnesses Unusual Summer Weather
Pyongyang, September 6 (KCNA) -- Unusual weather was witnessed in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea this summer.

According to a weather expert, the country observes some 583 mm rainfalls in summer usually, 60 percent of the annual precipitation. But, this summer saw 358 mm rainfalls, with 75 mm in June, 208 mm in July and 75 mm in August.

Meanwhile, 15 rounds of hail fall were observed in Pyongyang and some east and west coastal areas, which are considered to have been common in early summer and autumn in the country. In Samjiyon County, Ryanggang Province, frost fell untimely on August 10.

The unusual weather was ascribable to El Nino, which stayed above the Korean Peninsula and its surrounding areas, causing high pressure in the East Asian region.
