The erection of the statues of the great men born of Heaven in the city is a manifestation of the steadfast faith and will of the people in the province to hold in high esteem them as the eternal sun of Juche and carry forward and accomplish the great cause of Mt. Paektu under the leadership of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

An unveiling ceremony took place on Saturday.

Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Hyon Yong Chol and other senior party, state and army officials, officials concerned, service personnel, officials, labor innovators and shock brigade members who contributed to erecting the statues and working people, youth and students in the province.

Also present there on invitation were staff members of foreign consulates general in the city and other foreigners.

The statues were unveiled by senior officials of the party, state and army and the province.

Laid before the statues was a floral basket in the name of Kim Jong Un.

Also placed before the statues was a floral basket in the joint name of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK and the DPRK Cabinet.

Placed there were floral baskets in the name of the party and power bodies, working people's organizations, institutions and enterprises, factories and farms in the province, units of the Korean People's Army and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces, universities, etc.

All the participants paid tribute to the statues in the humblest reverence.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the C.C., the WPK and president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, made an unveiling address.

He recalled that the province is associated with the leadership feats performed by Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

He went on:

Kim Il Sung left giant footprints for the victory of the anti-Japanese war in the province from the days he crossed the River Tuman on October 1, Juche 19 (1930), mounted Turu Hill in Onsong County and formed the first party organization in the homeland till he accomplished the cause of national liberation.

He visited hundreds of units from the days he provided his first field guidance to the province after the liberation of the country, clearly indicating the tasks to be fulfilled by the province and ways to do so and wisely leading the struggle to carry them out.

Kim Jong Il unfolded a new history of changes in the province through his energetic field guidance till the last moments of his revolutionary life.

A socialist fairyland has been built in the province, its production is being reenergized and songs of happiness of the people are heard. This eye-opening reality is the precious fruition of the leadership of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.

The speaker called upon the officials and other people in the province to firmly defend and eternally glorify the revolutionary idea and feats of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as befitting descendants of Kim Il Sung and soldiers and disciples of Kim Jong Il.

The participants went round the statues, being briefed on them.
