Nigerian Organization Accuses U.S. of Moving for Its Forces' Permanent Presence in S. Korea

Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- The Nigerian National Committee for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism posted an article titled "Why are the U.S. forces present in south Korea" on its website on August 30 on the lapse of the 69 years since the U.S. forces' occupation of south Korea. Under such subtitles as "Results of hegemonic ambition" and "Illegal occupation" the article citied facts to prove that the U.S. forces illegally occupied the southern part of the Korean peninsula under the pretext of "disarming" the defeated Imperial Japanese Army. Under subtitle "A trick aimed at permanent presence" the article went on: The U.S. tried to legalize its forces' permanent presence in south Korea by setting up the Syngman Rhee puppet regime. It did not implement the resolution of the 30th Session of the UN General Assembly which called for disorganizing the "UN Command" and withdrawing all foreign forces under the flag of the UN from south Korea. During the Cold War, the U.S. worked hard to keep its forces in south Korea for an indefinite period under the plea of "threat" from the Soviet Union. But, its justification disappeared after the end of the Cold War and collapse of the Soviet Union. Therefore, the U.S. began to spread the "story of threat from north Korea." Typical examples are the "missile threat" and "nuclear threat" that disturb the world. This is the reason why the U.S. is ceaselessly staging adventurous, test nuclear war drills and preliminary war exercises against the DPRK, deteriorating the situation on the Korean peninsula. |
