But the DPRK firmly defended its dignity and sovereignty under the leadership of Kim Il Sung, winning victories one after another in the fierce face-off with the U.S.-led imperialist allied forces.

When the Korean People's Army captured the U.S. armed spy ship Pueblo, the U.S. brought the situation to the brink of war, The President declared the DPRK's stand that it would react to the U.S. retaliation with retaliation and to an all-out war with an all-out war.

Later, the KPA shot down a U.S. large-sized spy plane EC-121, when it intruded into the territorial air of the DPRK, and frustrated a wave of war provocations the U.S. forces committed in the Demilitarized Zone.

In the 1990s when the U.S. launched Team Spirit 93 joint military exercises, Kim Il Sung saw to it that the DPRK declared a state of semi-war, announcing its withdrawal from the Non-proliferation Treaty (NPT) in the face of the U.S. gangster-like demand for "ad-hoc inspection" of its nuclear facilities.
