Yang Kyong Il placed the first in the men's 57kg freestyle category and Kim Hyon Gyong and Jong Myong Suk bagged bronze medals in the women's 48kg and 53kg freestyle categories.

The wrestlers were greeted at Pyongyang Railway Station by Choe Thae Bok, secretary of the C.C., the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Yong Jin, vice-premier of the Cabinet, Kim Yong Hun, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, officials concerned, students of Kim Il Sung University and families.
