Pyongyang, September 15 (KCNA) -- Andrei Strygin, president of the Russian National Philatelists Academy, was interviewed by KCNA on September 13 after participating in the stamp show of philatelists of the DPRK and Russia held here on the occasion of the 66th founding anniversary of the DPRK. He said that he came to know well about the creative wisdom and resourcefulness of the Korean people and the might of the self-supporting national economy while going round various places of Pyongyang. He went on: The Korean people built lots of monumental structures in various places. I visited many countries of the world in the past but the streets of Pyongyang look as modern as those of other countries. The Munsu Water Park alone is enough to show well the efforts of the government to improve the people's living standard. The outdoor wading pool and comprehensive indoor wading pool were crowded with people and cheerful laughter was heard from there. Expressing boundless reverence for President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il, he continued: We visited the statues of the great leaders of the DPRK on Mansu Hill and paid tribute to them on the threshold of the birthday of the DPRK. Seeing an endless stream of people from all walks of life, service personnel and children visit the statues of the President and Kim Jong Il and pay tribute to them that day, we could realize the boundless reverence of the Korean people for the preceding leaders. We are mulling doing work for friendship and cooperation with the DPRK on various occasions in the wake of this show. We intend to open an international stamp show of philatelists and issue common stamps in Russia this year marking the 66th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Russia and the DPRK as a part of the work for boosting the friendly relations between Russia and the DPRK. We will make positive efforts to develop the friendly and cooperative relations between Russia and the DPRK. |
