The championship brought together teams from 16 countries and regions. Divided into four groups, teams will play league matches and winners and runners-up from each group will play knockout games.

Four teams which will prove successful in the current championship will participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup to be held in 2015 on behalf of Asia.

The DPRK team belonging to Group C played matches with teams of Kuwait, Nepal and Uzbekistan.

On September 14 the DPRK team played quarter finals with its Iranian rival. The DPRK eleven beat its Iranian rival 4:2 in the 11 meter penalty kick at the end of the draw in the first and second halves of the match.
