Sports Achievements Delight DPRK People

Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- Sportspersons of the DPRK have proven successful in recent international games, delighting its citizens. Some days ago, Yang Kyong Il of Kim Il Sung University bagged a gold medal at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships and the DPRK men's football team came first in the 2014 AFC U-16 Championship. Weightlifters Om Yun Chol and Kim Un Guk won gold medals in the ongoing 17th Asian Games, setting new world records respectively. In this regard, Kim Kwang Hyok, an official of Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA: The teachers and students of the university extend warm thanks to those trustworthy sportspersons for having honored the country with gold medals in international games. Hyon Nam, a workshop head of the Pyongyang Thermal Power Complex, said that all the workers of the complex have turned out to increase the output of electricity, encouraged by the sportspersons' achievements. Jang Chon Bong, a chief coach of the Sajabong Sports Team, said that the happy news encouraged the athletes of the team to intensify their training for raising the nation's winter sports events to a higher level. Kim Song Il, a researcher at the Branch Academy of Light Industrial Science under the State Academy of Sciences, said that he would take the lead in building a thriving nation as the local sportspersons did. |
