Int'l Symposium Promotes Academic Ties
Pyongyang, September 24 (KCNA) -- The International Scientific Symposium of Kim Il Sung University took place at the university on Sept. 23-24, under the theme of "Korean Linguistics, Literature and History".

Exchanged at the symposium, divided into sections of linguistics, literature and history, were successes and experience professors and scholars of universities and scientific institutes around the world gained in the study of the advantages of written and spoken Korean language and Korea's literary legacies and long history as well as their views.

Choe Jong Ho, first vice-president of Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA:

The symposium promoted friendly ties and academic exchanges among universities and institutes and scholars. Its course showed that the strong academic ties and close cooperation among scholars majoring in Korea's language, literary legacies and history would be conducive to the development of human civilization in the 21st century.

The academic exchanges between scholars of Kim Il Sung University and their foreign fellows will get more lively in the future.

So Jong In, a teacher of Korea University run by the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, said that the symposium offered an opportunity for making a deeper study of the Korean literature. Literature of Koreans in Japan is a part of the Korean literature, he said, evincing his resolve to fulfill the responsibility and duty in teaching written and spoken native language to the children of Korean residents in Japan and developing the national education.

Prof. Yannick Bruneton of University of Paris 7 said the symposium offered a lot of things to learn, stating that he would make all his possible efforts for brisk exchanges between Kim Il Sung University and his university.
