Pyongyang, September 27 (KCNA) -- Papers in the DPRK Saturday observe World Day of Tourism. The DPRK will pay deep attention to the development of tourism, in the future, too, to deepen the friendship and cooperation with the people of different countries and make the people lead a wealthier and more civilized life for material and cultural entertainment to their heart's content, Rodong Sinmun says, and goes on: "Tourism and Community Development" is the theme of World Day of Tourism this year. The event on the Day marks an important occasion in making tourism contribute to cooperation and social progress among countries to suit its mission and purpose. The DPRK has taken an active part in the international tourist activities and tried to meet the requirements and abide by the principles of tourism since it became a member of the World Tourism Organization in 1987. There are lots of fascinating tourist destinations in the DPRK, namely Pyongyang, Kaesong, Nampho, Mts. Paektu, Kumgang, Myohyang, Chilbo, Kuwol and Jongbang and Ryongmun Cavern. The work to arrange new tourist areas is under way and a great concern is directed to providing conditions for the development of tourism. Last year alone the Masikryong Ski Resort and many other world-class cultural and tourist facilities including the Munsu Water Park and Mirim Riding Club took shape in Pyongyang and across the country. Minju Joson says the DPRK government will direct more efforts to tourism which promotes mutual understanding and cultural ties among the peoples across the world and steadily develop tourism in the future, too. |
