Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- Celebrations took place in Benin and Bangladesh on Sept. 24 and 25 on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of leader Kim Jong Il's election as general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and the 69th founding anniversary of the WPK. They included a meeting, photo exhibition and film shows by the Socialist Party of Benin and the Bangladesh Group for the Study of Songun Policy. Displayed at the venues of the events were photos documenting the undying exploits of President Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un. Films shown included Korean films "Monument to Party Founding" and "Pyongyang at Night." Ali Houdou, president of the Benin party, said in his speech: One of the exploits performed by Kim Jong Il is that he developed the WPK into an ideologically pure and transparent entity and a party which achieved firm unity and cohesion. He made sure that the WPK held the Juche idea as an invariable guiding idea after the demise of Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, and formulated the Songun politics as the basic political mode under socialism. Regarding it as the important requirement for party building and activities to boost unity and cohesion of the party, he built the WPK into the genuine mother party serving the people. The vice-president of the Benin party noted that the immortal feats Kim Jong Il performed in building the party will shine forever along with the triumphant WPK. M. Jahangir Khan, chairman of the Bangladesh Group for the Study of the Songun Policy, said that the 69-year long history of the WPK founded by Kim Il Sung is the glorious one in which it turned the DPRK into the socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence and led the human cause of independence to a shining victory. A message to Kim Jong Un was adopted at the event held in Benin. |
