Some 1 400 contestants from 12 provinces and municipalities will compete in 14 events, which include 25m pistol by officials and clerks, roller-skating by primary school pupils and swinging by women.

At Kim Il Sung Stadium, there will be women's football matches of secondary school students, hurdle race of workers, peasants and clerks and field and track events of sports teams.

The football matches are to be played by 12 teams, divided into four groups. Top four teams from group league will compete in semi-finals and finals.

At the Pyongyang Indoor Stadium, there will be men's volleyball matches, tug of war, ssirum (Korean wrestling) and amusement games. Women's basketball matches will take place at the Basketball Gymnasium in Chongchun Street and team pattern and sparring matches of Taekwon-Do at the Taekwon-Do Hall.

In the football matches, held after the contest opening ceremony, South Hamgyong Province beat Rason Municipality 2:0 and Pyongyang City defeated Kangwon Province 3:0.
