An article titled "Guiding the people for nearly 70 years" noted the WPK has always led the Korean people along the road of victory despite all sorts of ordeals and trials of history since its foundation.

The WPK, which proclaimed its foundation on Oct. 10, 1945, aroused all Korean people to the construction of a new country and in this course the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was founded, the article said, and went on:

The WPK directed primary efforts to building and developing the army after the liberation of Korea. It defended the freedom and independence of the country in the fierce three-year war provoked by the U.S. imperialists and wisely led the post-war rehabilitation and construction and socialist construction.

In those days when the imperialists waged a vicious anti-socialist offensive, trumpeting about the "total end of socialism", the WPK led to a shining victory the battle to safeguard socialism under the unfurled banner of Songun, thus bringing about a turning phase for the building of a thriving nation.

After turning the DPRK into a political, ideological and military power, the WPK is now focusing its efforts on building an economic power and improving the people's living standard while putting spurs to building a highly civilized socialist country.

Another article titled "Flag bearing the responsibility for the destiny of people" said the WPK creditably performed its mission and role as a mother party which served the people and took care of their destiny in a responsible manner under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il.
