Rodong Sinmun says that the adoption of the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing the June 15 joint declaration, helped open a turning phase in the struggle of the Korean nation for independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

Over the past seven years the Korean nation keenly felt how the north-south joint declaration was dear to it amid unprecedentedly stern ordeals and has waged the nationwide patriotic struggle for firmly preserving it.

The cause of independent reunification of Korea started and developed by President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il is being successfully carried forward by Marshal Kim Jong Un.

It is his firm faith and will to preserve and implement the three principles of national reunification and north-south declarations provided by the President and Kim Jong Il and build on this land a reunified prosperous and powerful nation envied by the world.

All Koreans in the north, south and overseas should hold higher the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration despite the tense situation and desperate offensive of the anti-reunification forces.

The north-south declarations are the most important documents for the north-south relations. Nothing can be put above them and nothing can substitute for them.

All Koreans should fully embody the idea of By Our Nation Itself enshrined in the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and reject outside forces.

Minju Joson says the Koreans in the north will pool efforts with the south Koreans and overseas Koreans in the actions to foil all the anti-reunification moves of the U.S. and south Korean puppet group and thoroughly implement the north-south joint declarations under the banner of By Our Nation Itself and thus successfully carry out the behests of the President and Kim Jong Il.
