The statement noted:

The founding and development of the WPK would be unthinkable without the glorious revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il and the energetic revolutionary activities of Marshal Kim Jong Un.

Kim Il Sung laid a solid foundation for founding the party during the anti-Japanese armed struggle and realized the historic cause of founding the party on the basis of it after the liberation of the country.

He developed it into a revolutionary vanguard unit, rallied broad masses around the party, defeated the U.S. imperialists in the Korean war and successfully led the Korean people in their efforts for the socialist revolution and construction.

Kim Jong Il steered the WPK for nearly half a century, carrying forward the revolutionary cause of Kim Il Sung.

In the rigorous period when the Soviet Union and socialist countries in East Europe collapsed and the imperialist allied forces' moves to stifle the DPRK reached their height, Kim Jong Il enforced the original Songun politics in all fields and firmly defended the sovereignty of the country and socialism.

We wish all the party members and other people in the DPRK big successes in the drive for building a thriving socialist nation, rallied close around the WPK.
