Statues of Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il Erected at State Academy of Sciences

Pyongyang, October 6 (KCNA) -- The statues of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il were erected at the State Academy of Sciences on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea. The statues depict smiling Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who projected the scientists and technicians, trusting them as eternal companions of the revolution. An unveiling ceremony took place on Monday. Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Hyon Yong Chol, Kim Ki Nam, Choe Thae Bok, Choe Ryong Hae, Pak To Chun, Kim Phyong Hae, Kwak Pom Gi, O Su Yong, Ro Tu Chol, Jo Yon Jun, and Vice-Premier Kim Yong Jin, officials, scientists and employees of the academy, officials, persons of merit, shock brigade members who contributed to erecting the statues, working people, youth and students in Unjong District. The statues were unveiled by senior officials of the party, state and army and the academy. When the statues were unveiled, they shed brilliant rays. Laid before the statues was a floral basket in the name of Kim Jong Un, first secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, first chairman of the DPRK National Defence Commission and supreme commander of the Korean People's Army. Placed before the statues were floral baskets in the joint name of the WPK Central Committee, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the DPRK Cabinet and in the name of scientists across the country. Also laid were floral baskets in the name of the academy and its branches and institutes, power bodies, working people's organizations, institutions, enterprises, factories and farms at all levels and university and schools in Unjong District. All the participants paid tribute to the statues in humblest reverence. Kim Yong Nam, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, made an unveiling address. The erection of the statues at the academy is another great auspicious event in glorifying the undying feats Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il performed by developing the nation's science and technology and giving a steady continuity to the history of the cause of immortalizing the leaders, he said, and went on: Kim Il Sung declared the founding of the academy on December 1, Juche 41 (1952) during the grim Fatherland Liberation War. This was an event to be specially recorded in the history of the development of the Juche-based science and an undying feat he performed for the country's prosperity. He authored many works and gave important instructions, clearly indicating the way for developing science and technology. He visited the academy nearly 20 times and led it to fulfil its mission and role as the institution guiding science and technology. Kim Jong Il visited it more than 10 times, busy as he was leading the Songun revolution. He authored many works and put the country's science and technology onto a high eminence in the new century by providing energetic leadership. The speaker called upon all scientists and technicians to give fullest play to their scientific talents and enthusiasm, register signal scientific and technological achievements and thus firmly defend the outpost of socialism and make tangible contributions to building a rich and powerful country. The participants were briefed on the statues before going round them. |
