The past days prove the fact that the implementation of the north-south declarations is a vital and urgent issue in the development of the inter-Korean relations.

If the north-south declarations are sincerely implemented, all problems including not only the reunion of separated families and relatives from the north and the south but also the issue of achieving peace and cooperation will be smoothly solved in conformity with the demand and aspiration of the compatriots.

It is beyond doubt that the inter-Korean relations will be turned into the relations of trust, unity and reunification if the north and the south respect and sincerely implement the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, its practical programme,

The June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration are the key to solve the issue of inter-Korean relations.

It is quite natural that it is impossible to build trust while disregarding the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration agreed upon by the top leaders of the north and the south.

The past history of the inter-Korean relations show that if the north and the south are faithful to the joint declarations, they can pool their efforts to open up the road of reunification, but if they oppose and violate them, their relations would roll into a pit of confrontation and catastrophe.

It is a steadfast stand and will of the DPRK government to regard the historic north-south declarations as invariable milestone and to achieve the independent reunification, peace and prosperity with the joint efforts of the north and the south.
