The proposal for founding the DFRK based on one nation, one state, two systems and two governments is the most fair and realistic proposal for reunification as it is supported and welcomed by anyone who wants reunification, the statement said.

The validity and vitality of the proposal for reunification through federal formula, which serves as a firm groundwork for building an independent national reunified state, have been fully demonstrated since the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, it noted.

The adoption of the June 15 joint declaration helped make a breakthrough in the barrier of division that has remained frozen for more than half a century, and turn the north-south relations from the relations of mistrust and confrontation into those of reconciliation and unity, it said.

The brisk movement for national reunification conducted not only in the north and the south but overseas convinced Koreans that if they work hard to meet the interests and aims common to the nation irrespective of differing ideologies and social systems in the north and the south, they can settle any problem and achieve the independent reunification, peace and prosperity, it noted.

It called upon the Korean nation to reunify the country, firmly preserving the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration, a programme for implementing it, which was agreed upon and solemnly declared by the north and the south at home and abroad.

It expressed the will to devote efforts and wisdom to strengthening the national unity of the Koreans in the north, the south and abroad and achieving the reunification of the country and co-prosperity of the nation.
