The formation of the DIU was a historic event declaring the fresh start of the Korean revolution as it was a Juche-type revolutionary organization, quite distinctive from existing ones in name, character, action program and other aspects.

Kim Il Sung clarified the path of the Korean revolution in its platform after making an accurate analysis of socio-economic situation and class correlation in Korea with deep insight into cherished desire of the Korean people at the time when Korea was under the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists.

The members of the DIU were youth revolutionaries free from factionalism and flunkeyism and later, they played a key role in founding the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).

With the formation of the DIU as a momentum, the Korean national liberation movement began to advance along the road of independence.

The principle of independence maintained by the DIU has been successfully carried on by the WPK as its main principle in its building and activities.
