Hurdles in Way of Improving Inter-Korean Relations Should Be Removed, to Begin with: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, October 20 (KCNA) -- It is improper behavior in any sense for the south Korean authorities to let human scum scatter anti-DPRK leaflets to chill the atmosphere of improving the north-south relations, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in an article. It goes on: It is a challenge and mockery of the aspiration and wishes of the fellow countrymen to slander the other side while talking about improved relations. It is also an act of treachery as it goes against the trend of the times. Mud-slinging at the other party is nothing helpful to improving the inter-Korean relations. It is painful that Koreans live separated due to foreign forces. If Koreans slander and antagonize each other, who will benefit from those practices. They would only help those forces displeased with the reconciliation and unity of the Korean nation and the improvement of the inter-Korean relations fish in troubled waters. Any smear campaign against the other side is the root cause of chilling the atmosphere of having dialogue and mending the relations. Confidence between the north and the south should be shown in practice, not with words. Those directly responsible for improving the north-south relations should be prudent in talking and deed and lead media persons to create the atmosphere of improving the relations. Whether to put an end to acts hostile to the dialogue partner including mud-slinging at present or persist in such acts under absurd pretexts is a touchstone distinguishing the stand and attitude of improving the north-south relations. Explicitly speaking once again, if the north and the south are to have dialogue and improve relations, it is necessary to remove hurdles lying in the way of doing so, first of all. |
