Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- Today marks the birth anniversary of O Paek Ryong, a veteran revolutionary in Korea who devoted all his life to safeguarding the leader. Born into a poor peasant's family in Hoeryong County, North Hamgyong Province of Korea on October 24, Juche 3 (1914), O Paek Ryong embarked on the road of revolutionary struggle in his early years. At the age of 17, he took part in the actions to capture weapons under the policy of waging an armed struggle against the Japanese aggressors advanced by President Kim Il Sung. Then he joined the Korean People's Revolutionary Army and dedicated his all to defending the headquarters of the revolution. After Korea's liberation from Japan's colonial rule in August 15, 1945 and in the period of the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-1953), he had worked hard at important posts for building regular armed forces and a new country and for victory in the war. Later, he did his utmost at responsible party, state and military posts, regarding it as his life mission to devotedly safeguard the leader of the Korean revolution. He had been always faithful to President Kim Il Sung, who taught him Korean alphabet and trained him as an able military officer, and made a significant contribution to giving continuity to the lineage of the Korean revolution started in Mt. Paektu under the guidance of leader Kim Jong Il. Kim Jong Il in his lifetime had shown loving care for O Paek Ryong and his family, putting him forward as a veteran and backbone of the Korean revolution. Thanks to such deep trust and loving care, O Paek Ryong remains alive in the hearts of the Korean people forever as a model vanguard fighter defending the leader. |
