On display there are more than 1 200 application programs, classified into 17 sections. And there are such contests as for English-Korean translation program, sport game simulation program and CAD program.

What draw visitors' interest in particular among them are process control programs conducive to the updating at factories and programs for sports activities.

Meanwhile, the Pyongyang Information Technology Bureau presented 10 programs, including software for viewing on a smart phone news app as well as video clips.

An Tae Ryong, a teacher of College of Computer Science under Kim Il Sung University, told KCNA that more than 120 programs displayed by the college are winning popularity among the visitors, adding the software contest and exhibition offer an good opportunity for scientists and technicians in IT field to strengthen academic exchanges and acquire new technologies.

The exhibition will last till October 28.
