Kim Man Yu Hospital, in particular, renders creditable telemedicine service to county and provincial hospitals across the country, performing online surgical operations.

Jo Won Chol, a section chief of the hospital, told KCNA that such telemedicine service is given on the basis of advance analysis of patients' clinical charts through e-mail.

He further said:

The system, run at government expense, has come under spotlight among world's medical workers.

Participants in the WHO South-East Asia Regional Technical Consultation on Telemedicine, which took place here last year, admired the system, because it was established throughout the country in a short span of time on a high level and the service is given free of charge to all the people.
