Sangwon Temple and Dagobas in Mt. Myohyang
Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Among the attractions in Mt. Myohyang, one of eight scenic beauties in Korea, are Sangwon Temple and dagobas.

Sangwon Temple is a hermitage under Pohyon Temple and located in Sangwondong Valley.

The temple is believed to be built in the period of Koryo Kingdom (918-1392). According to historic data, it was rebuilt in 1580.

It consists of a main temple and three pavilions.

There are also dagobas in Sangwondong Valley lying west of Pohyon Temple. Dagobas are considered to be precious national heritage showing the stone-working art of the Korean nation.

President Kim Il Sung in his lifetime said that the scenery around Sangwon Temple tops all scenic beauties of Mt. Myohyang.

And leader Kim Jong Il personally explored the path leading to the temple and took a measure to build up the path.

Now, Sangwon Temple and its surroundings have been spruced up for a resting place of the working people of the DPRK and a tourist showplace well known over the world.

Sangwon Temple and dagobas were registered as one of national cultural heritages.
