He started his Songun revolutionary leadership with firm faith in the victory of Korean-style socialism pioneered by President Kim Il Sung and consistently adhered to the principle of socialism all his revolutionary life.

But for his leadership, the idea of socialism would not have been protected from getting degenerated in the upheaval created by all hues of opportunism including modern revisionism in the international arena and the fate of socialism would not have been saved from the vicious moves of renegades of revolution and imperialists.

His whole life was a heroic one of the champion of justice and peerless patriot who built an invincible socialist power on this land while resolutely defending the socialist idea and system on the forefront standing in confrontation with imperialism.

The history of start and advance of socialism records feats of many theoreticians and politicians but it knows no such great man as Kim Jong Il who dedicated his all to the victory of the socialist cause.

The events and revolutionary changes specially recorded in the struggle for defending socialism in the 20th and 21st centuries are closely associated with the august name of Kim Jong Il.
