Minju Joson on Ulterior Motive of U.S. Extension of Transfer of OPECON

Pyongyang, November 4 (KCNA) -- The U.S. agreed with the south Korean puppet authorities to indefinitely extend the transfer of the right to the wartime operation control (OPECON) at the 46th south Korea-U.S. annual security consultative meeting. This made it possible for the U.S. to lord it over in south Korea, exercising the right to OPECON until it deems necessary. As regards the extension of the transfer of OPECON, the U.S. claimed it was an unavoidable step taken in consideration of the south Korean authorities' earnest requests and interests. Minju Joson Tuesday says in a commentary in this regard: The U.S. is pretending to make a sort of "sacrifice" to "protect" south Korea from the "military threat" of someone, but this is nothing but a clumsy jugglery. The U.S. is working hard to carry out its pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy in a bid to maintain its status as the "world's only superpower" and realize its scenario to dominate the world at any cost. South Korea is used as the most important main base and military springboard to realize the U.S. pivot to Asia-Pacific strategy. That is why the U.S. is not willing to allow any slightest development which may lead to the pullback of its forces from south Korea. The recent agreement reflects this brigandish demand of Washington. Its intention to hold OPECON for an indefinite period is, in essence, aimed to stick to its policy for military confrontation with the DPRK. This goes to clearly prove what inveterate repugnancy and hostility the U.S. has towards the DPRK. |
