Usupbayev, chairman of the Central Council of the People Unity-"Kyrgyz El" Republican Political Party and chief of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea, was elected chairman of the memorial committee.

The committee decided to organize a remembrance meeting, seminar and other political and cultural events on the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of demise of Kim Jong Il.
