This is a dangerous act of escalating military tensions and conflict and another grave provocation to the DPRK.

This tower has served as a means for psychological warfare against the DPRK for decades.

The lighting of the tower had been banned under an agreement reached at the 2nd round of the north-south general-level military talks in June 2004. At the talks both sides agreed to stop propaganda and dismantle its means in the area along the MDL in order to defuse military tensions on the Korean Peninsula and dispel distrust and misunderstanding between the armies of both sides.

However, the Lee Myung Bak group, steeped in extreme hostility toward the fellow countrymen in the north, took a measure for resuming the psychological warfare against the DPRK under the pretext of the Cheonan warship incident and Yonphyong Island incident and operated the light tower on Aegi Hill as part of the warfare.

Shortly ago, the puppet chief executive got angry after belatedly learning about the dismantlement of the tower by the marine corps which was in charge of it. Later the "government" made much fuss, looking into the background against which it was dismantled.

The puppet forces had worked hard to calm down the criticism from the public at home and abroad, claiming the tower was lit according to the "request of the church" but wicked anti-DPRK organizations and conservative group in south Korea are deeply involved in this warfare.

The warmongers have been busy with confrontation rackets, lighting the tower in the forefront area and conducting leaflet scattering operations and airing broadcasting programs hurting the social system and dignity of the DPRK.

The light tower is not just a means for religious events but a symbol of madcap confrontation racket for escalating tensions between the north and the south to an extreme pitch and sparking off armed conflicts by deliberately getting on the nerves of the north.

The above-said moves are the dangerous acts of igniting a war against the north. Their anti-DPRK psychological warfare including their lighting of the tower has very catastrophic impact on the north-south relations and the situation on the Korean Peninsula.

No one can predict what would happen in the area where the situation remains tense due to the provocative acts of the enemy.

The puppet forces had better stop enlarging the tower at once, thinking twice over the grave consequences to be entailed by their reckless actions.
