Genaro Ledesma Izquieta, chairman of the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, was elected chairman of the memorial committee.

The committee decided to organize political and cultural events such as meeting and round-table talks to commemorate the 3rd anniversary of demise of Kim Jong Il.
